Exmouth is situated in the most northern area of Australia's Coral Coast tourist region. Exmouth faces east to the Timor Sea, uniquely possible due to the town's location on the North West Cape. The Ningaloo Coral Reef is offshore to the north of Exmouth.

Whale Sharks
Found in the Ningaloo Marine Park is the world's largest fish. From March through to June, dive in with these harmless sharks that feed only on Plankton and small fish. Ningaloo Reef is the only place in the world where the sharks appear in such great numbers and in such shallow waters.
Ningaloo Coral Reef
Western Australia's largest coral reef, home to over 250 species of coral and 540 species of fish. Larger mammals are also in abundance, from Dolphins, Manta Rays, Cod and Sharks. Long, white, sandy beaches typify the coastline fringing the reef and is an attraction not to be missed.
Cape Range National Park
Located just 40km from Exmouth is this spectacular national park boasting amazing gorges, wildlife and Australian wildflowers. Day tours to the national park offer an interesting adventure as you explore all of the rocky gullys and streams that wind their way across the Australian Outback.
Game Fishing

With a tropical climate, Exmouth has one great feature of weather, in the fact that it experiences no 'wet season'! Rainfall occurs over the whole year and temperatures are mostly warm. In Summer (December to February), the average maximum temperature is 37°C with an average minimum temperature of 20°C. In Winter (June to August), the average maximum temperature is 24°C with an average minimum temperature of 11°C.

Charted by the Dutch in the 1600s, the town of Exmouth is the newest in the whole of Australia. Although the region was explored further by the British in the 1800s, no official settlement was made.
The town can be dated from May 1963 when the Australian and US governments agreed to establish the $66 million Harold E. Holt US Naval Communication Station at North West Cape. From its earliest days it was always a military town with the Naval station opened on September 16, 1967. The population of the town peaked at around 4300 in the late 1960s but today there are less than 3000 people.
